So to have empathy with - to be in tune with the market - you need to be able to envision where the market is coming from. The market is there to facilitate trade - as much trade as possible.     So the market makers job is to serve as many market participants as possible.     So if you can gain a service vantage point or a market makers vantage point you are in tune with the market.
