Welcome to the TradersCALM technique analyser. You have described yourself as marginally profitable, but profits do not repay the risks you are taking or the effort you have invested. Congratulations, you have partly or wholly mastered some or all of the four calm secrets. You may be beginning to feel that there is a small spiritual component to the trading game. Yes, there are some opportunities to improve your understanding of trader and market behaviours, but what is mainly holding you back from developing into a more profitable trader is a lack of knowledge of techniques and concepts that will leverage your current skills and exploit your potential. You can almost taste trading success. At this stage your personality and beliefs will tend to determine which techniques and concepts are likely to bring you the trading success you can almost touch. The techniques and concepts that will often be most helpful to spur you forwards to the next stage include: replacing seeking of service with provision of service, full acceptance of the markets, a confidence case study, other techniques or concepts that may be helpful can include: reducing stress, selection of trade size so you can sleep at night, risk of ruin, volatility concepts, avoiding crowd membership, development of an alternative trading system/trading of a second market, identifying correlations between trading systems/different markets, using a traders log, position sizing, back-testing by hand, broadening understanding of trader behaviours, accepting opportunities to increase reward to risk ratios, empathy with market makers, extending range of market behaviours that are understood, contingency planning, patience, keeping sight of the target, moving from learning to joyful discovery. Now imagine what you are going to do about it. |
