Most successful traders, and certainly an overwhelming majority of those that regularly make 50% or more per annum seem to mostly use one of four trading techniques or variants or combinations of :
• spread trading strategies,
• volatility arbitrage,
• volatility break-out techniques,
• market making techniques.
This is because these trading styles/techniques tend to have lower stress and higher reward to risk ratios (are inherently more profitable) - so lower skill levels are required to generate the same profit as persistence based trading systems.
So maybe many of the more successful traders are not more clever, they have just found a simpler and easier path to regular profits.
