Learning can be fun, if we let it be fun.

The theory and self assessment of our learning style is covered elsewhere so let's get on with the practical side of re-learning how to learn.

We can consistently select an effective learning process from our 'kit-bag' of techniques if we remind ourselves, or allow ourselves to be reminded of common misconceptions about the learning process:

     • learning is an active not a passive process,

     • I have multiple learning processes and techniques to choose from,

     • trading has a significant experience component,

     • there are trading concepts I am currently unaware of,

     • there are trading experiences that I do not currently have,

     • not to revert to school-day type relationships,

     • another may have experience of learning and teaching this subject,

     • my understanding will be skeletal until I have grasped some concepts,

     • my understanding will be skeletal until I have gained some experience,

     • description is not a replacement for experience,

     • an example is shallow without experience,

     • my existing beliefs may get in the way of my learning process,

     • I might have to release some cherished beliefs to learn new concepts,

     • I will be more experienced only after experience.

And finally, with these obstacles to learning out of the way or at least in check, learning really is fun - it is a shame many of us did not effectively learn how to learn at school.
